Okay, Lactnetters, pick your favorite facts and let me have 'em! I'm
giving a talk on the pros/cons of sleeping arrangements (family bed, own
bed in same room, own bed in own room) and I am collecting short, witty
statements. If you had to list three reasons for (or against) any of these
sleeping arrangements, what would they be? I am, of course, planning to
incorporate SIDS information as well. Our talk will be kind of 'ranging
from Ferber to Sears' in content and style. Another counselor is giving
the sleeping pattern parts and covering the cry/comfort part. This is off
the cuff, but here are some pros:
co-sleeping - regulates breathing, less SIDS, less fuss to bf at night
own bed/same room - may be easier to sleep for light sleepers, reassures the
"I'll roll over on him" parents, less 2nd hand smoke exposure if mom
smokes
own bed/own room - easiest to sleep for light sleepers, privacy for "adult"
lives
So, my pen is poised and awaiting your collective wisdom...any takers?
Linda V.
PS I have not been able to confirm how that formula sample got to my
mailbox. It looks like _Parenting_ may not be the culprit. But as there
doesn't seem to be any other explanation, I'm stumped! Oh well, I trashed
it, and maybe that's that.
