I was astounded to see some of my collegues out there saying that there is
no such thing as nipple confusion! Tell that to the countless women whom I
have worked with over come the devastating effects of "not nipple confusion"
over the last 17 years of helping nursing mothers! I have seen countless
mother baby couples where the baby had several good feeds and then someone-
hospital personel, well meaning grandparent, or ignorant parent introduced a
"foriegn object" ie teat- into the baby's mouth and there was no getting the
baby back to the breast. I have even seen this phenomoenon occur with
finger feeding.
Call it "breast preferance" or whatever you like. I will continue to call
it as I see it, and as I see it, there are a lot of babies out there with
what I will continue to call "nipple confusion".
