to all Lactnetters, especially those Family Physicians - I just got into
the American Academy of Family Physicians web site (http://www.aafp.org) -
and BOY AM I MAD!!!
There, in big blue letters, is their sponsor - Bristol Myers Squibb. With
a link to the Bristol Myers Squibb home page - yes the one that discusses
their mission of promoting health, although they do, indeed, own Mead
Johnson that makes artificial formula. Why a huge organization with over
60,000 members and an enormous budget would need someone else to pay for
their web site is beyond me.
So - I let the AAFP have it via email, and plan to call first thing Wed
morning to complain, and I hope the other AAFP members will do the same.
And I would love it if all you other great lactnetters would do so as well
- the page has a lot of good health information, but a comment about the
sponsorship from many folks, especially sophisticated health advocates,
should make a dent. I am posting this to lactivist as well, and I hope
it's ok to put it on Lactnet. Thanks for the forum.
