I am currently working with a mom who has a one month old, the baby
was born 1 month premature and had great difficulty at the breast.
Mom rented breastpump at discharge (baby only stayed in hosp 3 days)
and was to use it to establish milk supply and feed baby extra milk
via syringe and she was supposed to return to me for consult but
decided not to. She has been pumping and feeding baby the expresses
milk in a bottle ever since birth, and today this mom calls me all
excited because today the baby decided to nurse at the
breast!!!!!!!!!!! Mom did all this on her own, did not really want
help from me, although I called her several times after she was
discharged and offered to see her , but she was happy with what she
was doing and was able to pump all the milk the baby needed, and
baby is nursing at the breast.
