I do a similar type of thing.
I used CardShop Plus to design a rudimentary label.
Instead of buying customized, printed labels, I purchase light
cardstock, then print out multiple labels per page with my color
ink jet printer. I print some cutsey little words on the
opposite side about my bees and the honey then use a paper cutter
to slice n dice into individual labels. I fold in half, punch a
hole for elastic string, then tie the label to the jars. 'One size
fits all'. This is the "artsy, crafty, new age" thing that's all the
rage
nowadays, plus I give credit on returned glassware, so I can
cut down on bottle costs. Without the pasted labels, more honey
is visible and the product looks more attractive. As my retail
crop grows (he says, hopefully) I plan to investigate fancy
glassware similar to what is used up here for maple syrup. These
containers are a selling point unto themselves and the
tourists snap them up. With exorbident pricing too!
CardShop Plus is somewhat limited in what it offers for graphics, so
I would like to find a PC graphics app that would offer zillions
of canned images (idea being there'd be some bee related images)
but not cost a million (what a dreamer!). I also dream of a better
printer. My ExecJet II is OK, but occassionally gives me reason
to pitch it from the 2nd floor window. Such costly dreams will have
to wait until I have a job.
Nuff said.
