Hello everybody,
First, thank you all for the information about the Haberman feeder. I
already visualize it better, and will ask the sales rep to see the real
thing.
Second, I certainly have as many intetsinal symptoms with goat milk as
with cow milk. Thank goodness (or the pharmaceutical industry) for the
lactase pills !
Finally, I think my medical students got the message today ! They had
started last week by saying "hey, listen, we have had 3 lectures on how
better breast milk is, so what's new ?" (remember, they are doing a
mandatory rotation in public health, and this is the week to study health
promotion). So, they came up today with stuff on the Baby Friendly
initiative, tucked under the heading "grass-root organizations" along
with LLL and Nourrisource (an organization that does BF support using
one-on-one support, and claiming to be less extremist and more open than
LLL). So, I ask "tell me, how do you cure a mastitis? and it is normal
for the nipples to hurt at the beginning?" None of them had the right
answer... They listened better to my explanations about the role of
health services in the support of breastfeeding ...
By the way, though NourriSource is more culturally in tune with the
population here, I never fail to recommand LLL, explaining that,
sometimes, a culture may evolve. And that, if one does not feel well in a
culture that promotes distance between parent and baby, it is nice to
know that there is an alternative. Oh, Mrs Detwiller, your posts are so
useful...
