Years ago I was told that I couldn't be given a TB test because I was
nursing. I don't remember what type of test it was. I asked why I couldn't
have the test and the reply was "you can't treat a nursing mother for TB, so
we don't test for it"!! Didn't make sense to me then and it doesn't make
sense to me now either.
My daughter was given the BCG vaccine after she was born- in Tahiland- and
has alsways shown positive for TB. Lats time she took ti the reaction was
so strong that she was x-rayed and shown to have leisions on her lungs and
had to be treated for TB. No harmfull side effects- at least that we know
of at this stage. By the way- she is a teenager.
