I thoroughly agree with you regarding the use of the word "compliance". I
also don't feel that it fits with lactation consultancy.

I am an LC with a background of voluntary breastfeeding counselling with
the Nursing Mothers' Association of Australia, and counselling skills have
been well and truly drummed into me!  The mother's problem and solution are
hers - we can only provide information, assistance and options (ie
counselling), and it is up to her to decide what is best for her and her
family.
