How about trying gentian violet? It is messy
(understatement), but *very* affordable and frequently
effective. A 1% solution can be applied twice a day (for three
days) to mom's nipples and baby's mouth. I would have her
continue the antifungals (Nystatin, etc.) concurrently and for
two weeks after her symptoms have disappeared (think
positively!). I'd also encourage her to continue dietary
changes which may allow her system to discourage the
systemic growth of yeasty beasties (decrease dairy products
and sugars, increase B vitamins, zinc, garlic; add
acidophilus.)
