I just drafted this and sent it to NPR. What do you all think?

Subject: Baby Milk Contamination

To whom it may concern:

In light of the recent story you presented regarding the issue of
breastmilk contamination, I am eagerly awaiting your response to the
issue of the current contamination of artificial baby milks in the UK.
These milks are contaminated with phthalates, a known carcinogen, and an
agent that is suspected in reducing sperm counts and interfering with the
future fertility of females as well. Apparently these milks are still
being fed to babies in the UK although no safe levels for infants have
been established, and we are very uncertain of the effects these
contaminants may have on the future health of these children. The
government states that "commercial interests" were the reasons for not
announcing brands that are effected, showing that a huge corporation has
the power to deny mothers information about the very health of their
children. Thankfully, several of the companies have come forward, but
these mothers are still being told to feed the milks anyway. This is
just one more instance of an uncontrolled experiment in replacing
breastmilk with unsafe and unproven substitutes with unknown
consequences. I am eagerly awaiting your response to this issue!

Sincerely,

Heidi Murphy [log in to unmask]
