I'm posting this question for another leader. A 5 month old
baby has been bleeding from the nipples on and off for 3 weeks
but the mother says that if she squeezes them at all she gets
blood so it's prob. on and off cause she tries not to put
pressure around them.
Amount: drops of blood, pediatrician was able to swab with
cooton balls. She is exclusively bf, solids have been offered
but none eaten. Baby is doing well and doesn't seem to be in
any pain.
Dr. thinks perhaps a cappilary in the babys skin ,which
mother says appears thin, could be breaking and running into a
milk duct. Mother wonders if there might be a hormone in her
milk causing it. She hasn't had any periods, she isn't on birth
control pills, and she isn't taking any medication at all.
Any ideas? Thank you!
