Re Bretylium
Bretylium is a potent IV,IM preparation used to treat life-threatening
arrhythmias. It is generally only used on a short term basis.
No data is available on amount transferred to milk, it is poorly bound to
plasma proteins (1-6%), but instead rapidly leaves the plasma compartment and
binds in peripheral tissues. Fortunately it is only 12-37% orally bioavailable.
It terminal elimination half-life i 7-11 hours.
It is unlikely that it would transfer into milk in high concentrations assuming
a reasonable time period between dose and breastfeeding is used, but we do not
know for sure.
It would seem reasonable, that after a limited period of pumping and dumping
(maybe 12-24 hours) this mom could continue to breastfeed.
Sorry but their is limited data on this product.
