Just adding to Jackie's story.  My sister has had a lot of experience with
abandoned kittens... here is Australia (more than likely in the US too)
there is sepecial formula for abandoned kittens, they die on any form of
bovine milk....

Also an a LLL meanting not long ago a mother explained that the reason for
her breastfeeing her children - tandem feeding the two youngest 6 & 4 years,
was she was a vet and all her taining had taught her that anything other
than mothers milk would kill the young animal and only in extreme
circumstances should new born animals receive anything other than the
mothers milk... she just translated that over to humans and came up with the
answere that anything other than mum's milk was not suitable or healthy for
her kids.
