For all of you involved with WIC's breastfeeding promotion or programs in
some way; don't they currently only offer the fabulous food packages and
other benefits to breastfeeding moms for the first 6 months? (maybe it's
a year here, I'm not sure). If so, how do you all feel about the idea
of WIC extendending these benefits for the first two years, as to go
along with the WHO recommendations about breastfeeding for the first two
years? It seems to me that only offering it for six months (or a year,
whatever) gives the impression to moms that breastfeeding only needs to
take place for that long, otherwise they'd be offering more incentive for
nursing past the first year. That was the impression I got when I was a
nursing mom on WIC. Just wondered what others opinions are on this.
