Rarely do I run into this, but I have a mom who is 3 wks pp and is complaining
about the baby throwing up (she has taken baby 2x to ped for throwing up and he
says baby gets too much milk), choking and burping loudly during a feeding. I
suggested every position, establishing let down before feeding to reduce
forcefulness using hand expression or breastpump with minimal suction. She is
disghusted and talking about quitting bfing if this is how it is going to be.
What do you say? I explained to her how her body is going through an adjusting
period with her milk supply during the first 6 weeks and it did no good.
Cabbage leaves I have heard about (she has suggested using) but I wanted input
on this one. Can they be used to decrease a supply this early? Should they be
used? She just is full of milk; there are no problems with engorgement, she is
feeding every 2-3 hours, baby has gained 1.5 pounds since birth. I would like
to give her something to encourage her to stick it out but I have run out of
ideas. Your help would be appreciated.

I think of some mom who are pumping and working who wish they had this
problem!!!!

Melissa
