Someone mentioned a study from Australia being quoted by a formula company;
Here it is....;Forster C.,Abraham S., Taylor A., Llewllyn-Jones D.,
"Psychological and Sexual Changes After the Cessation of Breast-Feeding"
Obstet Gynecol 1994;84:872-6 "19 women completed the study.5 of the subjects
became pregnant before weaning and ceased breastfeeding when pregnancy was
confirmed; their last menstrual period was 6 weeks before weaning. The non
pregnant women reported a significant decrease in fatigue, improvement in
mood, and an increase in sexual activity, sexual feelings, and frequency of
coitus. Significant changes in fatigue and mood occurred during the second
week after weaning; in fatigue, sexual activity, and sexual intercourse
during the third week; and in the frequency of sexual intercourse in the
fourth week. The results were not caused by the subjects' expectations about
breastfeeding and sexuality or perineal comfort. The women who conceived did
not have these changes; a gradual increase in fatigue and decline in
sexuality was observed." All the women in the study had been breastfeeding
their first child for more than 6 months and were on no medication(including
Oral contraceptives) This is a very small study. I don't believe it proves
anything.Mothers with small babies are very focussed on their babies. This
is a very important mechanism for survival of the species and probably has
an evolutionary basis. What does everyone else think? Carolyn Lawlor-Smith
