I just read the Globe article on the Canadian hospital that now buys all
its formula. Hooray! But I did the math and I'm confused. The hospital
does about 7,000 deliveries a year, with a breastfeeding rate of 80%.
That's 1400 bottle-fed babies. The estimated cost per year for their
formula was $60,000, or ... $42.86 per baby?? Just how long are those
Canadian hospital stays, anyway?
