Ellen: How much caffeine had this mother taken in? Regardless, she
should be able to clear it out of her own system and her milk within a
day. Although Dr. Hale's book states plasma half-life in neonates can be
greater than 60 hours, (therefore it might take the baby several days
to clear it), there would be no reason for her not to have
breastfed once the caffeine was out of her milk. She probably could have
resumed nursing within 24 hours, IMO. I guess this could be added to the
