A client had a healthy baby boy who weighed 7# 13 oz at birth. On day 6 she
took him to the Ped for a checkup and he weighed in at 8# 4oz. The nurse double
checked the scales to be sure they were reading right. The Ped asked Mom what
she was feeding baby & Mom said baby was exclusively BFd. The Ped suggested
supplementing with ABM. When Mom questioned him, he said it's just in case Mom
gets sick. He hates to see a baby who is totally dependent on Mom & won't take
bottles. He also said most moms don't like to be tied down like that. Mom told
him she's quite happy doing it her way, thank you. :-)
Maybe it's time this 70+ yr old Ped attended an LLL Physician's Seminar? Or
read up on current literature? Or....oh, well. :-/
