A hospital based program has been reduced from 4 to 2 LC's in October
1995, or reduced by 44 hrs. a week in an approx. 300 birth a month
hospital. Now, 6 months later, the hospital administration, is
putting pressure to stretch hours so there is less LC coverage per
day and coverage for 365 days a year with one 40 hour and one 30 hour
per week LC. We are supported by the OB physicians.
We need feedback on coverage in similar hospital settings,i.e.-number
of LC's, hours worked, days of the week covered, holidays, and
prenatal breastfeeding classes taught, and job responsibilities.
ALso, if anyone has any documentation or brestfeeding articles that
may be pertinent to L.C. coverage per number of patients, please
send to me through private E-mail.
Please respond as quickly as possible through private E-mail, as our
backs are to the wall.
