I have recently come up with a rather good (I think) explanation for sore
nipples to moms who think having sore nipples the first two weeks is NORMAL!
Uggh! (Even the nurses believe sore nipples are normal.) I tell them
painful nipples are God's way of telling you (mom) that the baby isn't
getting all that he could be when he is eating. So we need to get him
latched on better so he can get all the milk that he should. By putting the
emphasis on the baby's needs, moms don't feel so uncomfortable about
complaining about sore nipples. Some of you brilliant minds may have thought
of and used that explanation already, but I thought I'd share it anyway.
