Hi ya'll. Alabama needs a State Archaeologist and will be filling the postion a
s soon as possible. If you are attending the SAA's in New Orleans, the SHPO wil
l be there and will interview any interested applicants. The salary is negoti
able. Alabama has lots of interesting archaeological resources, and historical
archaeology is just gaining a foothold here. We have never had a state archaeo
logists before so, in a way, you would be creating a whole new program. This c
ould be a good, challanging and rewarding job for a talented archaeologist. -
and the benefits are great, the cost of living low!
I'm horribly biased and want a historical archaeologist to fill this position, s
o pass the following along to your colleagues. I hope we recieve lots of applic
ants from "our kind."
The job announcement follows. (All typing errors and bias toward Historical arc
haeology are my own and do not reflect the intent of the Alabama Historical Comm
ission!)
