Kim, years ago Dr. Gregory White collected data on babies who nursed very
frequently and grew very rapidly. My second child was 6 lbs 10 oz at birth,
and 21 lbs at 6 mos but also over the 90th percentile for height. By 2 years
she had settled into the 80th percentile for both. Some kids gain it all in
the beginning and slow down later, especially if weight and height are both
roughly proportional.

Offering the breast frequently is appropriate. Since this does not cause
obesity in most babies, there is most likely something else going on. Your
client should have the baby's MD check glucose, thyroid and other hormone
levels. Withholding food is not justified - this baby is eating often for a
reason, and the trick is to find the reason.
