Hi, everyone,
A question:
If everything else is "within the normal parameters" is it okay for a newborn
to stool every other day or so? This happened to my sister's 2nd baby. Milk
supply more than adequate, baby wetting more than 6 diapers/day. Baby did
have to be readmitted @ 1 week of age (bili 24; responded quickly to photo-therapy) The ped. group has recommended everything from supplementing with ABM,
pedialyte, a little Karo syrup, or suppositories. We felt the suppositories
would be the least offensive. My sister characterizes his stools as "blowouts."
Yellow consistency, with curds.
Could this still be within the normal range.  I know that after 4 weeks or so,
breastfed infants can go 1-2 weeks or longer between bowel movements, but have
never heard of it in a newborn.
