It seems the anesthesia group at my small hospital is at direct
odds with the recommendations of LLL and our local lactation consultants
regarding whether or not a nursing mom can safely breastfeed after
general anesthesia.
LLL and LC's are recommending resuming nursing when mom is awake
enough to do so; anesthesia says 24 hours of pump and dump. Pediatrics
has no clue.
What resources can I point the anesthesia group to so they can
become more informed? I really feel they are choosing the 24-hour figure
arbitrarily and this is not based on any hard data.
Since this group also has the attention span of a gnat, I'd like
to present them with data that is fairly concise. Any ideas where to look?
Thanks
