I recently saw a new mom & baby, both with a raging thrush problem that had
been going on for 3 weeks! I phoned Pediatrician & asked for Rx for BOTH mom
& baby, and of course they only called in drops for baby. When I called them
back they said mom is not our patient, blah, blah, blah. We have Peds that
have different policies, so I am speaking at their next section meeting to
see if we can come to a consensus on the issue. I believe all of them
prescribe Nystantin drops for baby. I have never had personal experience
with thrush & treatment, but hope that Lactnetters can fill me in!
Some of the offices say for mom to put the baby's drops on her nipples. If
it's the same medicine, does it matter? The Nystantin cream for the mom's
nipples would sound much more soothing and easier to use. What are the
thoughts/experience out there?
