Kathy, in answer to your comment about your son's IV and still being
able to hold him. That IS the norm for most babies. It is only rarely
that an IV is so precarious that one can't hold the baby. In reality
most of these IVs "blow" soon anyway. Often, they enter the vein at a
sharper angle than is desirable or are not well seated. So, since I
justified that sometimes IVs can be so unstable as to stop the holding
of a baby I just wanted to clarify that this is rare.
