In case others of you are members of ILCA affiliates, this is just to note
that MILC (Metropolitan Illinois Lactation Consultants) celebrated its 10th
birthday anniversary today at a wonderful "breastfest", our name for
meeting in the afternoons/evenings for social gatherings.
We had two cakes, one was appropriately in the shape of two breasts. In
fact, there was a good bit of discussion re: the shape of one of the
nipples; several LCs thought it might benefit from use of a nipple shield!
:-)
We also had lots of other goodies. Best of all, we had people in attendance
who were there at the beginning and others whom we had not seen in ages AND
a real hit was the phone call from Jeanine Klaus, former ILCA President and
a one-time member of MILC when she lived in the area who called and wished
us all a happy birthday from Canada, where she now lives.
If any other ILCA affiliates have not yet celebrated an important
anniversary, I recommend it highly.
PS. If any of you is from Maine, could you please pass on this bit of
trivia? At my recent visit with the Maine LCs (in Portland), I was
privileged to see the "Congratulactations" cake they prepared to fete the
newly-certified IBCLCs. I borrowed freely from that experience in making
our breast cake, and included on one breast the term "Congratulactations!"
I hope you don't mind.
Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
