Dr. Hale-- Help! Mother has a sinus infection, infant (7 months old) has ear
infection. Infant has been on Cefaclor, Chemdec and Tempora. He finishes on
Monday (19th). Mother began Bactrim on Tuesday (13th). Doc said she
couldn't nurse with her antibiotic and said to wean (besides, he said, he
will be teething so you might as well wean). She did some research and has
realized that his information was flawed and her infant is very upset to not
be nursing. My question: even though her med is an approved med. does it
become a problem since the infant is also on an antibiotic ? My gut
reaction is no but I need more than that to be on the safe side. (when she
called the doc to say she wanted to go back to breastfeeding he said she
would need to pump and dump for a week to clear the med!). Thanks in
advance.
