Babies sometimes die in their cribs, too. Infants have gotten their heads
caught between the slats, between the mattress and slats, in nearby curtain
pulls, caught their sleepers on the crib, etc. There are zillions of people
in the world and zillions of opportunities for danger. This case likely got
attention because we think (here in the US) babies are at risk when in bed
with adults. The society at large likes to think a nice, safe, solitary bed
(in a nicely furnished, private nursery) is secure...
sorrowing over the grief and (likely needless) guilt those parents must be
feeling,
