The Italian researchers led by Dr. Piscane have published on other
interesting topics: decreased incidence of inguinal hernia in BF infants,
and decrease incidence if Multiple Sclerosis in breastfed adults.  Their
studies, although using small numbers, do point to the long term health
effects of nursing.  Their work also suggests a "dose response" effect of
BFing...the longer baby is exclusively breastfed, the lower incidence of
the above mentioned problems. I always look for their names now! Anne
