Sarah:  You are correct that IUD's are back on the market.  They were off
for some time because of many lawsuits following one infamous IUD which
had caused a disproportionate number of complications.  Even though other
IUD's did not have this problem and their manufacturers could successfully
defend the lawsuits, apparently the legal costs exceeded the profits they
could make, so many companies pulled their IUD's.  Now there is at least
one IUD available again, and I'm not aware of any legal problems.  Maybe
doctors are doing a better job of informed consent nowadays.  Alicia.
