INFACT Canada is recommending to Canadian groups that World
Breastfeeding Week be celebrated the 40 th week of the year  - to
coincide with the 40th gestational week. This is also being
implemented by a number of European countries.  For
1996 this will be the week of Monday September 30 to Sunday October
6. This decision was made after careful consideration and
consultation with WABA, our European IBFAN partners and Canadian
breastfeeding groups. Some groups already have some experience
with the first week in October and report higher public
participation, although organizational resources are very stretched
at this time. The recommendation is to start the planning process
during the spring to be ready for the fall. We have a World
Breastfeeding Committee that will be developing resources to support
the theme. The Committee is looking for ideas to promote community involvement
- Breastfeeding: A Community Responsibility. Please email INFACT
