In response to some postings about menapausal symptoms and lactation, I
too have experiened them. I have 3 children, and after each birth, for
about the first 6 months of nursing, I woke up at night with the sweats.
I thought I was soaked just from leaking milk, but then I realized most
of the time I would break out in this tremendous sweat after a few
minutes of nursing. I also had the hot flashes day and night. I never
thought to do anything about this, I just attributed this to
breastfeeding and that my hormones where still out of wack. I believe
this stopped when each child was approx. 6 months old ( my youngest child
is now 8, so it is hard to remember exactly when).
I have  not suffered with this for a long time, but I have to say that
when I am 1 week away from getting my period, I still get ocassional hot
flashes( a couple of times a day).
