Those weaning ages are population based averages. Our children know what is
right for them, but sometimes it is hard for us! If your son seems content
not to breastfeed, it is probably weaning, if he is upset about not nursing,
this might be a nursing strike. If it is a nursing strike, he might nurse in
his sleep....
Some children wean before 2 years even with moms that are around full
time.... My son weaned at 22 mos, my daughter nursed almost 4 years. I did
everything pretty much the same....they are still very different little
people.
I'd like to avoid a "cultural mileau" among Lactnetters or bf
supporters that penalizes mothers who nursed for shorter periods of time.
Nursing for 21 months is nothing to be ashamed of!
