 to all you helpful folk.
I'm almost afraid to ask another question but here goes anyway.
What is the general consensis for low blood sugars that need treating in
premature babies 33 to 35 weeks if not symptomatic? if symptomatic? What
about full term or large for dates babies that are jittery etc. What
treatment if mother can't nurse or pump due to illness besides formula or is
that our only choice? What about IV. 10%DW. Pead thinks IV too invasive.
Baby spitting up that other stuff and not even 24 hours old? How much time
do we have if there are no symptoms?
What are other hospital policies on low blood sugars and based on what
studies? One more question. What do other hospitals do after delivery. Do
babies go to the nursury fo short observation time or are babies admitted
with moms to the post partum unit? if not what about C/section moms after
general aneasthetic or those small for dates or premi's discribed earlier.
I'd love to initiate more Kangeroo care and think some of the problems would
be eliminated. Tall order! sorry again for all the questions
TIA
