I've read somewhere (I think in Sumner Yaffe's text on drugs in pregnancy
and lactation) that ibuprofen (generic name for motrin) is not found in
human milk even when mom is taking fairly high doses. I have felt
comfortable taking it and prescribing it for nursing moms. However, when I
got that same neck trouble, I used ice packs and got a nursing pillow, a
nursing stool, and watched positioning. Then I didn't need medications.
Of course, my 15 month old only weights 17 pounds, so I have never had to
support very much weight.....just lots of squiggling...
