Thought you all might be interested in a quote from Marianne Neifert...
Under "Etiologies of Lactation Failure - Maternal Factors" in the chapter on
"Infant Problems in Breast-feeding" in "LACTATION Physiology, Nutrition, and
Breast-Feeding" (my copy is dated 1983) Dr. Neifert writes:-
"Lactation Failure is most often based on improper interaction between mother
and infant either due to inadequate feeding routines or inadequate suckling
for some other reason." Sub-headings in this section include "Impaired Milk
Letdown" and "Failure of the Breast to Respond to Appropriate Nursing
Stimulus" No percentages are mentioned. Does anyone have a more recent
edition of this book? Just wondered.
