Nancy Sherwood quoted a specialist who spoke of Human Milk Fortifiers:
>he believes that they are used because of a lack of faith in the value of
>breast milk.
Doesn't it drive you nuts when you suggest using human milk as a supplement
and the provider looks at you like you just suggested voodoo? Do you find
some of the artificial feeding plans sound like voodoo? (Besides HMF I
wonder at the safety of the common practice of concentrating abm for preemie
or LBW use--something I see peds frequently ordering.)
I suggest we print up "ingredients/calories" labels, like the ones posted on
food packages (here in the USA), figure out a non-irritating fixative, and
hand them out for nursing moms to plaster on their breasts. (Especially moms
with babes in the NICU). :-D
