My reply to "Denise":
I am an anthropologist, not a lactation consultant, so will not comment on
the truth or falsity of blondes and their nipples, except to say that it is
common "folk wisdom" that people with fair skin generally have more
sensitive skin -- easier to burn in the sun, more prone to allergic
reactions to skin products (soap, creams, etc.). Being Caucasian but with
dark brown hair and relatively dark skin which is not at all sensitive, my
experience fits this, but I don't know if it is a general rule.
Light-colored people do have *thinner* skin than dark-coloroured people in
general, which may contribute to the perceptions people have of skin
sensitivity.
