I have to join Katherine Dettwyler in that I also don't mind babies (even
what is considered reasonably noisey ones...) when I speak - but maybe that
is because I do speak loudly, and am a major motor-mouth :-)
I see it as more of a problem if the speaker is quiet, and especially if the
mike situation is not adequate.
I would rather see a mother attend and learn, rather than stay out in the
hall and hear nothing. Sometimes I'm hoarse after I speak... I guess I
spent too many hours in the hall when my kids were young.
