Suzanne,
Thanks for giving me the correct name for that which I found in a baby over 5
years ago. In my League group, a mom came to say her nipple was very sore.
Looking into baby's mouth, I saw a pointy hard palate! (The very last part of
the hard palate ended in a point.) No wonder she was sore! This was a couples
group (actually we "welcome fathers - but dad wasn't "required" to come), and
Dad was there. He pointed out he also had this area on his palate.
Our suggestions were frequent changes in position, using breast milk on nipples
after feeds, and patience. Frankly, I don't know if I could have persisted, but
she did, and her nipples must have "hardened up" as after 2 months she was
breastfeeding without pain.
