Shirley:
the only thing that I am able to locate is etidronate disodium...I have
found it in PDR....this is the product insert but....
it is not metabolized. a large fraction of the infused dose is excreted
rapidly adn unchanged in the urine. the mean residence time in the
exchangable pool is approximately 8/7 hours +/- 1.0 hr. the plasma half life
is 6.0 +/- 0.7. nonrenal clearance from the exhange pool amounts to 30-50%
of the infised dose.. this nonrenal clearance is considered to be due to
uptake of the drug by bone;sbsequently the drug is slowly eliminated through
bone turnover. the half life of the dose on bone is in excess of 90 days....
now it would seem to me that too often practicioners read what the
manufacterer says about nursing mothers and do not look at what the drug does
or where it goes in the body....
hope this helps,
Patricia
