I am working with a pregnant women who has been diagnosed with
pregnancy-induced osteoporosis. She has two broken legs as a result and is on
complete bedrest until she has the baby (should be soon). Her OB says she
absolutely must not breastfeed as it will suck more calcium from her bones.
Does anyone know anything about this? I remember seeing a study somewhere
that breastfeeding actually improved the body's ability to absorb calcium,
but I can't find it now.
