Our temple congregation is split about whether mothers should nurse in public. On the one hand, a small but
vocal group of nursing mothers, some with nursing toddlers, are insisting on their rights under NY state law
to nurse in a public place where they would otherwise be welcomed. On the other hand, some older members who
grew up in an era when artificial feeding was considered normal, are embarrassed to sit near a nursing mother
even when absolutely nothing is showing - the mere idea of breastfeeding is abhorent. We are looking for a
way to resolve this situation without offending anyone. (OK, this is where we break into a chorus of "She's
got high hopes, she's got high hopes ;-) )
I missed a week of posts so if this has already been addressed, please forgive me, and if you think that this
subject has already been flogged to death here, please e-mail me. TIA.
