I was excited to read the following in my daughter's Human Anatomy &
Physiology text book "Lactation occurs after parturition and *may continue
for 2 or 3 years, provided suckling occurs often and regularly*!!!!.
Although I would liked to have seen a longer time span, I'm grateful for the
acknowledgement that lactation can be a long term process and that frequent
suckling is necessary.
I'll be doing a presentation for this class in the spring and am really
looking forward to it. The teacher is one of the best my kids have ever had.
She was very interested in having me come in to talk about lactation and
this is at a school where quite a few of the parents are M.D.s so it's not
like she is hard up for outside speakers.
