I'll bet you anything that the "exploding breast" is another urban
legend. As with all urban legends, if you ask that mother for the name
of the person it happened to, she will be unable to. It's always a
friend or relative of a friend or relative.
I once fell for an urban legend about a child being abducted from a
shopping cart at a famous toy store chain near me. Supposedly the child
was found in the restroom where the culprits had cut and dyed the
child's hair. This happened to my friend's (Hi Mary!) sister-in-law's
friend who was supposedly there when it happened. I called the police
about it because I was totally freaked out and the detective actually
laughed and said " Oh, is that story going around again?" Turns out it
was a friend of a friend who was there.... Anyway, I think that "THE
EXPLODING BREAST" would make a good addition to a list of other urban
legends. (But you never know, maybe I'm wrong?)

P.S. Mary Renard, do you remember that?!
