hope you lactnetters can help with this-the mom is pregnant with third baby.
During her last pregnancy, she developed "PUP"-intense itching and raised
strawberry like welts-during the 8th month of pregnancy. She was told that
the condition would continue as long as she breastfed, but that didn't
happen, fortunately. The itching was the worst right before and after the
birth, continued for about two weeks, was gone after a couple of months. She
breastfed for 14 months. This time around, she has develped the itching at
the 7th month of pregnancy. She is taking 25mg benadryl at bedtime but
doesn't get much relief and doesn't sleep well. During the last pregnancy she
took Atarax. Aveeno liquid soap provides some relief for about 10 minutes!
Mom would like to know if there are any treatments that will provide longer
relief. Just as an aside, does anyone know what causes this? She is also
asthmatic, but is not on daily meds, only uses inhaler as needed. You can
e-mail her directly at [log in to unmask] Please post for all to see as well. TIA
