Hi everybody,
I have a question. A mother of a 5 month old is pumping at work with a double
pump Lactina. She keeps the milk in a refridgerator at work, takes it home,
refridgerates and the next day it goes to the daycare. Recently the baby
started refusing her bottles and they discovered that the milk was sour after
being warmed. Mother has not changed any of her pumping or storage
procedures. She stores in the small playtex disposable bags. They have done
many trials now and the milk appears to be okay till it is warmed and then it
smells foul. I suggested feeding it cold, but I'm baffled by why after only
24 hours it would go bad. Mom is sterilizing her kit every day. Any ideas on
this would be appreciated.
Thanks, Marilee Woodworth, IBCLC, LLLL, Ann Arbor, MI
