Christine Palmer,

Rooting doesn't stimulate breathing - the baby must be breathing first! The
teachable moment is (1) teaching rescue breathing on a forearm (no practice
manikins in class) and encouraging them to learn infant CPR, and (2) baby to
breast to prevent excessive bleeding is the "moment" to teach positioning and
latch-on. Two separate issues, one teachable moment. Sorry for the
confusion.
